RE: Dale Gray's model
Quite so - surely NOone wants to see NASA even try to run space tourism
services. However, for most people in the world, "Space = NASA" ....amazing
but
true :-<
For that reason, what NASA says about tourism potentially carries huge weight.
And so they can have a huge influence in accelerating things by a few simple
steps.
1) Admit publicly that it's technically feasible using current technology
(which
hopefully Rotary Rocket and others with show soon anyway :-) Just putting
their weight behind this statement alone, will stimulate investors all round
the world, who currently think "If it was possible, NASA would be doing
it....."
2) Correct their future projections of human activities in space from being
"12
NASA (ESA, RSA) astronauts on Mars in 2050" to being "millions of the general
public in LEO and tens of thousands on the Moon by 2030", say.
3) Enact their legal obligation to encourage commercialization of space as
much as
they can (which means tourism and energy; the telecommunications industry can
look after themselves.) This would include doing research on a range of things
that entrepreneurs NEED to know the answers to - like what's the best cure for
a hangover in zero G? :->
.... for a start!
