Peter, I think you got that a little confused. Gene wrote a book called
"ET Solutions" and hyped up a lot of influential people in California on
the idea of funding a California "space program" using shuttle derived
unmanned launchers to build a multi ET space station. I communicated
with Gene quite extensively a few years back and I am pretty sure that
his father had nothing to do with the ETs. Gene did use his father's
inheritance to fund the publishing of his book though. The basic
premise of a ET derived space station is pretty sound and many people
have tried to make a go of reusing the ETs. But my evaluation of the
situation is that NASA and Lockheed Martin (who builds the ET) are not
going to allow any commercial reuse of the ET despite a directive from
President Regan directing them to allow it. Many have tried, but the
ones that got closest (had shuttle flight commitments) have long since
given up and moved on to other projects.

Here are a few veterans of the ET battles:

you in touch with Gene Meyers

He created the Space Islands web site and graphics/animations that Gene
used to promote his ET Space Station project.

(From my last conversation with Perry, he was not happy about Gene's
misrepresentation of his work)

I and many others had high hopes for this project, but Gene never got
anything more out of this than to sell his books.

PS: I like the idea of the first wedding chapel in orbit. The father of
the bride would really have a astronomical bill to pay. :) As for the
cathedral, I wonder if anyone has approached the Mormons about building
an orbital temple? Or for that matter any of the major religious
organizations? Once one did it, the rest would rush to out do the
others with a bigger and more elaborate one.
